It’s been quite a month in the news – terrorist attack in Sweden, chemical warfare and retaliation in Syria, missile launches in North Korea, church bombing in Egypt, let alone whatever may have happened in your home this week. It’s really enough to keep a sane person awake at night.

One of the radio DJs now playing the new Midnight Moon single just posted this quote after the attacks in Sweden: “After a day of chaos yesterday, I sat down, really listened to this song and found some calmness.”

That’s the greatest thing someone could say about my music – that they found something within the words and melody that made their life a little better and their soul feel a bit more calm.

Sometimes seeing the words helps the message resonate, so I thought you might enjoy reading the lyrics of this song.

Midnight Moon
The world is trying to spoil our happy ending
It wants to hide our path to peace
Filling life with troubles unrelenting
To keep us down, flat on our knees

But the midnight moon came out this evening
Soothing all the worries of the day
Asking who will start believing
In more than doom and gloom
Tonight I’m gonna listen to the midnight moon

No longer will I let the day choose to limit
How much happiness I can breathe
I’ll feel the pulse of every precious minute
Inside the hope that set me free

‘Cuz the midnight moon came out this evening
Soothing all the worries of the day
Asking who will start believing
In more than doom and gloom
Tonight just listen to the midnight moon

When you’re out there inside the quiet
There’s so much you can hear
Clarity speaks in the silence
Drowning the shouts of our fear

Yeah, the midnight moon came out this evening
Soothing all the worries of the day
Asking me and you to start believing
In more than doom and gloom
It’s time we all listen to the midnight moon

There’s so much in this life we cannot control. And worrying about what has happened or what could happen keeps us from living each day to its fullest. That in turns keeps us from being all we were meant to be. If we reach our fullest potential, then we can be the kind of people who will make our part of the world a better place.

It’s a trickle down effect isn’t it? As we each make our communities better, the world at large starts to become a better place. Will it conquer all of the ills of this world. Not likely. But if this is what we focus our energies on, we won’t have time to worry about all of the things we can’t control.

I find my peace in knowing who put the moon up there in the sky and in the confidence that in the end, good will triumph over evil. I see my mission as sharing a little bit of that peace with you through my music.
